The moon has no fixed address

Case 003 · The Moon Received a Noise Complaint

CASE NOTE 003 · 1 NOVEMBER 2026 · MORROW

After two stories with gentle, melancholy endings, I wanted to make an unapologetically silly film. The moon would cause trouble, and the Bureau would respond with municipal seriousness.

The premise is a town filing a noise complaint against the moon. It is a useful comic imbalance: an object older than civilisation being assessed against a local bylaw.

The visual contrast

I wanted the moon to be magnificent—vast, luminous and theatrical. Inspector Vale, meanwhile, arrives with a decibel meter, a notebook and a ladder. The image should explain the joke before Enzo does.

I also wanted more tangible paperwork. Forms, stamps, an injunction, a failed address check. The surrounding town is warm and welcoming; the administrative process is unsentimental.

Why this is a different case

The first two films end with small emotional reversals. Case 003 is designed to end in comic momentum instead. I wanted to test how far the Bureau could lean into absurdity before it stopped feeling like the same universe.

Case 003 is prepared for a Saturday release. The full director’s note will remain available here; the film link will be added once it is publicly released.

A noise complaint against the moon should always involve a ladder.
