A shadow should be allowed a holiday

Case 002 · The Shadow That Requested Annual Leave

A shadow is something a person produces without thinking about it. I wanted to turn that taken-for-granted thing into a character with a single, modest wish.

For forty-six years the shadow has followed its owner through marriages, house moves and appointments. It does not ask for independence or revenge. It asks to see the sea.

Why I chose the vertical frame

Case 002 became a YouTube Short, not as an experiment in chasing views, but because the story is about a shape stretched between a person and the ground. Vertical framing makes the distance between the shadow and the world feel more pronounced.

The film begins inside a confined office and opens toward the coast. I wanted the visual space to widen emotionally even though the frame remained narrow.

The joke is also the wound

In the end, the owner barely notices that the shadow has gone. The Bureau replaces it with a temporary pencil drawing. I kept that joke because it is funny and a little sad at the same time: being essential is not always the same as being seen.

This was the case that convinced me the Bureau could carry small feelings beneath its ridiculous procedures. It also showed that the same visual identity could work in both horizontal and vertical films.

Leave approved. Further applications pending.
